Frequently Asked Questions

Can I remove trees without a council permit?

Yes. You don't need a council permit if you want to remove dead trees. If the tree isn't dead, but presents an immediate risk of personal danger or damage to your property, you can remove the part of the tree which is at risk.

How do I tell if my tree is sick or dying?

Go out and have a good look at your tree. You'll know your tree is unwell if you see:

  • Severed roots or sign of root decay
  • Peeling or loose bark
  • Deep slits or cracks
  • Swelling or cavities
  • Low-hanging branches with no bark and no leaves
  • Spotty or deformed leaves

If you suspect your tree is sick or dying, call us, and we'll perform an on-site evaluation.

What kind of tree diseases or pests should I look out for?

The common diseases and pests which affect your tree's health are:

  • Root rot: Caused by a fungus which affects the roots through the soil. Wilted leaves during warm seasons are a tell-tale sign of root rot.
  • Elm leaf  beetles: Prominent in Melbourne, Elm Leaf Beetles eat holes in the leaves of Elm trees. In colder months, this insect will invade house eaves, leaving nasty yellow stains. We specialise in providing Elm Leaf Beetle treatments–ask us about it today.
  • Citrus gall wasp: An insect which lays its eggs in a citrus tree's branches, causing an infection which results in branches swelling and bulging. We'll need to cut the infected branches off straight away.
  • Anthracnose: An umbrella term for a variety of diseases which affect trees in a similar way. Anthracnose is caused by a fungus, and can cause discolouration in your tree's foliage.

Am I insured while your staff work on my property?

Yes. We are fully insured, with public liability cover for up to $20 million–so no matter which team member completes your job, they are completely covered for damages.
