You need to check with your local council to see whether the tree is protected or subject to an environmental overlay before we can prune any overhanging branches. If it's not protected, we are allowed to cut back any leaves or branches which overhang the boundary line–within reason. We'll only prune if it won't affect the overall structure or health of the tree, while following the Australian pruning standards.
We do recommend you engage your neighbour along the way. Let them know your plans, and where we'll cut the branches so that both parties are satisfied.
This will vary depending on the size of your tree and the amount of pruning we need to do. When we conduct the initial free on-site evaluation, however, we'll be able to let you know exactly how long the job will take, and how much it will cost.
Topping or shearing the tree off creates multiple wounds between growth points that the tree won't be able to heal effectively. The wounded branches will either die or decay, and the overall health of the tree will decline. This is why you should always get your tree professionally pruned.
